Please provide the contact information requested below to indicate your intent to purchase the Illinois Choose Life license plate if they ever become available in Illinois. You will be contacted if a future action by the Illinois Legislature or a Supreme Court ruling requires the Secretary of State to offer the option of Choose Life plates.
NOTE: While the cost information below will likely be accurate when a Choose Life plate gets created, the process to establish this option to purchase a Choose Life plate in Illinois must begin anew, so the opportunity to purchase the plate is certainly not imminent at this time. Even so, it is still very valuable to know your interest in the Choose Life plate so please submit your request anyway. This effort will continue until Choose Life plates are on the road!
The expected cost will be $124 annually ($25 over the $99 cost of a standard plate). The extra funds will be used to support adoption. In the first year $10 goes to aid adoption, with $15 paid to the state as a preparation fee . Annually from then on, $23 goes to adoption aid organizations, and $2 to the state.
If your current plates do not expire within 90 days, you can replace your present plate for a total cost of $54 (the $25 Choose Life fee, plus a $29 license plate replacement fee). As far as we know, you should be able to transfer your current plate number to the Choose Life plate, including vanity plates, but there could be additional costs involved for vanity plates.
